For any baker, the dream to own a bakery one day is what keeps them motivated but running a bakery isn’t all that easy. You need both technical knowledge and skills.

Since I had been baking from a tender age of 10, helping mom prep Christmas cakes and bread during the festive season I had a brief idea about what goes into the making but to run my own bakery I need to take my basic knowledge up a notch.

And for that, I needed to find the right mentor and finding the right person was easier said than done.

Professional baking schools in Delhi are few and far and my experience with a couple of them wasn’t too good. At one of the places I wasn’t even allowed to take home the bread and cakes, I’d bake while at the other one I never got the chance to make anything.

But my search for the perfect institute continued and it was through my Instagram feed that I came across Truffle Nation and instantly knew it’s the place I had been looking for all this while.

And with a little more research, to my surprise, I found that the Baker Kirty was my age but her knowledge of bread, cakes, and chocolates way ahead.

I had my basics spot on

Since I already knew the basic of baking bread and cakes and wanted to step up I signed for the Professional Cake Course and since the moment I entered the school, it felt like home.

Kirty made the classes extremely comfortable and soon we were joking and laughing about stuff, well I also found a friend in her.

I learned a lot about decorating cakes like in the videos and photos you see online and also about the creams and flavors I can use in cakes.

And unlike my previous school, here I was going to take those yummy looking cakes to my parents and loved every bit of it.

Also, since now I have a detailed instruction e-book I can bake those cakes and pieces of bread anytime I have my friends or relatives over. I didn’t even need to write down anything during my classes.

What the future holds for me

Yes, a bakery is a dream but one I’m rushing into. For now, I would like to practice and further develop my skills from home itself. I have started taking orders for cakes, muffins and even bread in my neighborhood and so far the response has been exciting.

And when I do finally fulfill my dream don’t forget to drop in by and grab a bite.
